COMMUNITY
Surround yourself with a group of kind, caring, understanding female business owners just like you, ready to normalize, empathize and uplift you.
So you run a business with ADHD and you live with a cloud of shame over your head…
…because everyone else has their stuff together.
…because Instagram has you convinced it’s easy for everyone else.
…because even the ADHD business owners you know are crushing it and you’re drowning in endless tasks, dishes and deadlines.
The reason you’ve had a VIP reserved seat on the struggle bus isn’t because you’re doing it wrong.
It’s because traditional business tools and strategies you’ve been taught were never created FOR YOU.
You decided to be an entrepreneur because you are actually MEANT TO DO THIS.
Did you know people with ADHD are 500% MORE likely to become entrepreneurs?
Which makes sense, right? Because…
Due to our unreliable attention spans, we like being in charge of our schedules, timelines, and capacity.
Entrepreneurship takes a level of innovation and creativity which we are never lacking
Our risk-taking tendencies and impulsivity allow us to make big moves without thinking of the consequences
We can easily switch between tasks, which is the daily life of an entrepreneur
Since we often dive into creating a business based on an interest that feels intuitive to us AND that we really enjoy, it’s easier for us to slip into our magical hyperfocus mode.
Entrepreneurship gives us the freedom to pivot when we wish
Buuuut you realized once you jumped head first into starting your business, the MAGIC of your ADHD that brought you to entrepreneurship also brought an equal amount of issues…
While you were MEANT to be doing this, you’re struggling because…
✖️ You’re terrible with boundaries and impulsively say yes to everything leaving you overwhelmed
✖️ The tasks you DON’T love continue to pile up and you feel shame every time you check your to-do list and see those items STILL there.
✖️ You work 24-7, yet constantly feel behind
✖️ You are in comparison mode while scrolling and get frustrated seeing how “easy” business owning comes to other people
✖️ You have zero time to learn HOW or WHY you are the way you are
✖️ Every single strategy out there to help you is created by neurotypical entrepreneurs
✖️ You’re constantly over-working to make up for the executive functioning skills you lack
✖️ While you love what you do, all the other parts of business owning overshadow it
You’re drowning. And I have a life raft for you.
Because not only have I been there, but I’m also currently there. Every day.
Hi! I’m Emily Schwalbach!
Founder + CEO of HELD. I’m a former Kindergarten teacher, who received my ADHD diagnosis at age 16, despite years of teachers unwilling to fill out observations forms since I wasn’t a “behavior problem” . (Thanks mom for advocating for me!)
I decided the $30k/year teaching salary was not worth the daycare cost long ago, and set my sights on being the greatest stay at home mom there ever was.
Fast forward to not only having my baby BUT discovering that mom guilt and postpartum depression and anxiety came along with it.
In 2014 I had my first son, Will. He was a dream baby and toddler.
I loved him with my whole body and soul, but my brain? My brain didn’t like not working. Teaching was so fulfilling that I didn’t realize how much I’d miss it.
So when I was presented with the opportunity to start and manage the social media accounts for our family business, I JUMPED AT IT
(and pictured is how I worked most days from our messy playroom)
So that’s how I got started in social media.
And that led me to launching my own business, helping over 1,000+ entrepreneurs and small business owners with their Instagram content and marketing strategy through 1:1 consulting, team trainings, and The Social Squad Society, a social media and marketing support membership I co-founded in 2019.
And while I still experience the ups and downs, struggles and shame of ADHD, I have a leg up ONLY because my journey started 21 years ago. I understand why I do what I do and have created strategies that help.
I have learned how to…
Figure out my capacity
Work from home with screaming toddlers
Set boundaries with dopamine-filled social media platforms
Get back up after falling into the pit of shame when I double booked or missed a call
And after a year of mentoring clients 1:1 with ADHD with their business, marketing, and personal lives, I want to help MORE of you succeed in all those areas, too.
If a place existed where you could FINALLY get the support you needed as an ADHD entrepreneur – would you join?
